stem was created to grow alongside plants; it can be added to, divided, or joined, enabling it to evolve with you and your plant as it develops and matures.
We have two sets available original ‘stem’ and ‘stem lite.’ The original set is perfect for larger plants that require more support (eg. monstera deliciosa) as it uses a two part cross stake base. stem lite is ideal for smaller or lighter plants that need guiding rather weight support (eg. devils ivy) as it has a single brass rod base. the story of stem
“stem developed from observing a much loved, but leggy, philodendron.
Its rapid growth inspired me to consider how to provide support to my plant with a solution that would grow as the needs of the plant grew.
I wanted to create an object that could grow and adapt to the needs of a growing plant which was elegant and simple. My research identified that most plant stakes were functional with little consideration for how they looked let alone adding to the beauty of the plant.”
stem is engineered from brass sheet and rod. The base of stem fits together and locks in place in a star peg configuration which makes it both sturdy and easy to push into the soil at the base of the plant.
A locking pin secures the base elements and small brass tubes are screwed into the base and each other with a bamboo veneer chip between two rods to provide a way to secure the plant without any damage to the plants structure.
