the story of otto
Otto began with a pile of unused, purpose-built cylinder tubes ofbamboo—beautiful, sustainable materials that had lost their way.
These bamboo tubes, originally intended for another project, were left over and discarded. Instead of letting them go to waste, we saw potential. We purchased the surplus and kept in close contact with the supplier, brainstorming ways to give these forgotten pieces a new life.
Our first step was to reimagine their function. After careful consideration, we decided to transform them into something both functional and striking—a side table or stool. Using our CNC router, we crafted custom tops and bottoms, creating a solid internal structure that ensured the piece was sturdy and practical for everyday use.
To add a touch of uniqueness and elevate the design, we introduced a distinctive feature: a 3D-printed ‘Lood’ logo embossed lip. This lip, which sits seamlessly between the lid and the mainframe, became Otto’s signature element—both a visual cue and a subtle nod to our brand.
The end result?
Otto—a piece of furniture born from sustainability, innovation, and a desire to turn excess into something beautiful.
