Care and Maintenance

The natural patina (surface appearance of something grown beautiful especially with age or use) of orbu is an important aspect of the design. We recommend that if orbu is used for display or serving of food that it is cleaned immediately after use, using mild soapy water and a sponge or a microfibre cloth. Dry using a microfibre cloth.

Commercial steel cleaners are not recommended. Please note that steel polish may have an abrasive effect, especially on surfaces with a mirror finish. We do not recommend washing orbu in the dishwasher, as this will scratch the piece, while the salt and detergent may leave black marks and spots on the surface.

Engraving & Finish

orbu is produced in very limited quantities, with each bowl engraved and carefully hand-marked with a unique batch number on the underside. This number preserves its rarity and ensures that every bowl is special and distinct.

orbu is crafted from stainless steel using the ancient lost-wax casting process, resulting in a unique finish for each bowl. This technique often results in distinct veins and imperfections that make every piece one-of-a-kind. The exterior is hand-polished to create a striking contrast with the raw, untouched interior, where you can sometimes see the original mould's part lines. We like to think that this combination of polished and raw elements highlights the bowl's individual character and craftsmanship.
