As a self confessed stationery junkie my first trip to Tokyo was like a pilgrimage.
Discovery
Store after store of beautiful stationary, so much to see, so much to buy, so little time! The place that staggered me the most was Itoya in Ginza; two buildings and a total of 15 floors to explore, where I discovered Nanamemor and their block calendar, it was love at first sight.
The calendar sat on my desk for the next twelve months reminding me of Japan each day. When the year rolled over I desperately tried to get the new years calendar online but to no avail! Lots of messages sent with bad Japanese translations, lots of rabbit holes explored but I could not work it out.
I stubbornly kept the last years calendar on my desk for the next 2 years as a useful notepad and pen holder but every time I tore off a note it reminded me of my failure to get the current year block calendar. Finally I could not resist any longer and arranged the next Xmas to be spent in Japan where one of first things I did was secure the following years calendar block, finally my desk bore the current year, contentment.
Two years later, with the launch of lood, I spent some serious time tracking down Nanamemor, if I could not buy it online I would become a stockist.
Many confusing emails in a mixture of Japanese and English (and sometimes both) ensued. Eventually. Success. I could become the Australian distributor for their beautiful products.
Stationery is not something the lood team design or make and it may seem like a strange product to add to our lineup but it fits our belief in well designed and beautifully made products….
And it means I will always have the current year block calendar on my desk. It also means our customers can also enjoy Nanamemor each year.
The biggest mystery. " If I didn't have this hole, I would be a notepad..."Why, of all things, in this position? Because it's not a notepad... This is a story of a "pen stand" like a notepad.
It is a small and simple notepad for your desk, it has the same angle cut face as the calendar but a smaller footprint of 70 x 70mm. It also has an angled pen/pencil holder hole that conveniently keeps your pencil hand ready to jot down your next important note. It’s available in a range of ten fantastic colours that range from lighter tones through to dark which are suited to coloured pens. The paper is high quality 80gsm wood free which is a delight to write on.
A high quality diary with current and next year calendars, current year planner and month to an opening pages.
This is followed by a blank indexed note pad with 12 index tab which allows you to expand notes in your preferred way. The angle cut edge allows you to easily flick through the index to find what your looking for and is complemented by fabric page holders to quickly find your current month or project.
A unique desktop notepad which with its angled cut face allows you to see the full year at a glance, the angled hole holds your pencil so your always ready to jot down the next important idea.
It was originally released in 2014 and won an award for excellence in the design division of the 23rd Japan stationery awards. The angled face is the perfect viewing angle at your desk and as each note is removed the calendar appears on the next page, it is a unique and precise printing process and allows you to see the full year as the pages are removed.
Our 2024 calendar is now sold out, so provide your email on the purchase page to know when 2025 calendars will be in stock.
